Sir Royston was presented with the Caribbean Tourism Organisation’s most prestigious award, the “CTO Lifetime Award,” during a ceremony at the Plaza Hotel in New York.
The award presentation formed part of CTO Week in New York, which was attended by Tourism Minister David.
Sir Royston’s work and achievement, the Minister said, go beyond individual recognition to that of profiling his homeland and the region.
“He has done well not only for himself and Grenada but also for the Caribbean on a whole.
The award not only recognizes him as an individual but it certainly lifts the profile of Grenada,'' Mr. David said.
"When a prominent hotelier can receive such prestigious awards, it does well for the tourism industry.''
A CTO statement described the work of Sir Hopkin as a lifetime of high performance and dedicated service to his country and the Caribbean.
The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes achievement that distinguishes the individual's work and which provides a legacy for future generations.
